PAX West 2023
I’ve grown to love the soulful genre as I progress in my gaming career. You will need patience to play Lords of the Fallen. Even though I never got very far in the original Lords of the Fallen, I still enjoyed it. I’ve developed a love for souls-like games and have an improved level of skills, so I decided it was time to revisit the game and its new reboot.
First of all, the game looks stunning. Lords of the Fallen was built using Unreal Engine 5 and is in the capable hands of CI Games. The game ran and felt smooth on PC. You may have noticed a few glitches, but this was an early build that ran at high settings. It wasn’t fully optimized. The art style is similar to that of other games, but the visuals have a Darksiders-like feel. The lighting effects and particle effects are fantastic, and I would expect nothing less since the game was built using Unreal 5. I think it’s the best looking soulslike. In the time I spent playing this game, I came across a variety of enemies and bosses whose designs and animations are unique and interesting. I’m excited to play the game when it releases.
Lords of the Fallen is a soulslike that has brought something new to the table. The Umbral Realm is one of my favourite new mechanics of Lords of the Fallen. You get an Umbral Lantern when you first start the game. This allows you to see into a different world. During your journey, you’ll encounter various roadblocks. You can use the lantern as a tool to overcome obstacles and solve puzzles. You can travel into the Umbral Realm to access areas of the map that you have never seen before.
Lords of the Fallen is a game that looks great for Halloween. This game has a lot of features that make it stand out from other games in the souls-like genre. This reboot has taken a lot from the 2014 game and improved on it in an area where many games look similar. I’m excited to play the entire game and learn more about the gameplay and systems.
